Auctiva Changes – Why?

A Lot of the conversation on message boards all through the Internet in the last few days has been about the big changes Auctiva just announced. They’ve been a Free service for so long that the idea of Auctiva charging really shocked most of their customers.  Perhaps overlooked by many in this storm of conversation is the REASON for the change.
Here is a quote from Auctiva CEO Jeff Schlicht  “In order to remain free all these years, our business model included many different sources of revenue,” Schlicht continues. “In addition to shipping insurance and our other pay services, like Sellathon.com, we also derived more than half of our income from eBay’s affiliate program. However, eBay recently made changes to its affiliate program that greatly restricted, and ultimately eliminated, this critical revenue stream. As a result, we will have to begin charging for some of our services.” (http://www.auctiva.com/edu/entry.aspx?id=Auctiva-Enters-New-Era)
I think this explains it pretty well. When one of the underpinnings of your revenue stream is taken away – big changes are inevitable.

Shipsurance & HammerTap

Last week on the show we had a GREAT hour. It was information packed, great guests, fun chat room and all. And . . . . I messed up  . . . . boohoo

Ship Surance

I forgot to push the record button . . . . so there is no way to share that excellent hour with anyone who wasn’t there!

So, here we are and I’ll try to put the information here to share. Beth & Mel are also planning on doing a quick RECAP on tomorrow night’s show and we are pursuing short taped interviews with our two guests to upload to TalkShoe for downloading later.

Our first guest was Ariel Schmorak, from the Ship Surance Company and he explained to us how to handle our OWN insurance, not pay the outrageous rates from the USPS, insure our First Class International Packages and EVEN turn package insurance into a small profit center in our businesses! Be sure to click the photo to see if Ship Surance could be good for your own business plan!

Shipsurance was formerly known as DSI

HammerTap Research

HammerTap Research

Our next guest was Jen Cano from HammerTap with all their news and exciting updates. Research is such a necessity for online sellers, and HammerTap is the premiere place to get that research. They offer free Webinars with top notch training! Sign up for their free 10 day trial, be sure to attend at least one Webinar during that time, and let us know what you think!

New Website Developers!

Our scheduled guest for last Wednesday, Gary Hendrickson, had an emergency meeting crop up the same time as our show so had to cancel at the last minute. We hope to reschedule Gary to introduce this year’s Garage Sale Challenge on the 27th so stay tuned.

SOOOOOO . . . . . . . we announced our Host BETH’S brand new website and the designers behind it! If you remember, back on February 7th of this year, Beth won a Website on Dave White’s Ebay & Beyond Radio show – on their SECOND Anniversary show! There were some delays as the original designer pulled out of the project and our friends, ‘the Tims‘ stepped up to the plate and delivered in a BIG way. Beth’s site is built around the Presto Site Shopping Cart software and I had no idea how versatile this tool is. Tim Selaty called in to the show and talked about all the options available on a site like Beth’s and how happy they were with Beth’s pleased reaction to their design. Beth is now busily stocking the site and you can check it out by clicking on the photo.

For the tiime being they can be reached thorugh their KnockOut Software website and we’ll be interviewing them about that Amazing Website Solution in the future!

Meet Gary Hendrickson AKA ‘The Auction Rebel’

I’ve been following Gary’s blog for several years and have learned so much from him that I was very surprised to learn, when
Get Your Copy Free

Get Your Free Copy from Gary

he granted me this interview, that neither of my co-hosts had heard about him! So I am REALLY excited to introduce all of you to a wonderful resource, mentor and a great guy. Gary is such a generous teacher that just for signing up for his newsletter he will give you a free copy of his book ’222+ Non-Fiction books that sell for $25 or more on eBay’ and there is more. On his blog there is enough information to turn any garage sale treasure hunter into a dangerous predator that _I_ wouldn’t want to be shopping after! All the good stuff would be gone! So check out our Auction Rebel at his blog, The Auction Rebel, or Check out This Years’s  MAIN EVENT, The 2009 Garage Sale Challenge. You can find Gary’s items for sale on eBay and Amazon.
