Birdhouse Books on eBay
Birdhouse Book’s Blog
1 – Please tell me about yourself and why you are an eCommerce entrepreneur?
I have a lifelong love of everything antique and vintage, and grew up antiquing with my parents. When we went on family vacations, we went to antique stores in every town. Past jobs for me have included bookstore management and teaching preschool. I feel like my current eCommerce business combines all these interests and experiences – vintage items, books, and especially vintage children’s books!
2 – how did you pick your business name and what you sell?
birdhouse-in-your-soul comes from my favorite song by They Might Be Giants. It’s a happy, quirky, fun song. I sell vintage children’s books, vintage cookbooks, and antique ephemera (Valentines, postcards, sheet music, sewing patterns, etc.).
3 – what online venues are you currently selling on and are there others you plan to expand to in the next year?
I sell on eBay (auctions, store, and fixed price) and also Amazon. I want to sell more at Amazon and open a book business at Alibris. I have also looked at ABEBooks.
4 – What are your goals for your business in the next year?
List more on Amazon, Alibris, and possibly ABEBooks as well. Spend more time marketing my business through blogging, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
5 – Tell me a favorite story about your eCommerce career.
Because my primary item (vintage children’s books) is something I truly love, I really enjoy emailing with my buyers about vintage children’s books. I’ve met several children of authors and illustrators, and even sold a brochure to a descendant of Frank L. Baum. I’ve also made good online friends with other people who share my love of vintage children’s books.
Let Trish know you enjoyed her story by leaving a comment and visiting!
